How to Use AI for Content Repurposing: Turn One Post Into 10 Pieces of Content

Content repurposing used to take hours. Writing tweets from a blog post, pulling quotes for LinkedIn, turning a guide into an email sequence — all manual, all tedious. AI changes that math entirely. With the right prompts, you can take one piece of content and spin it into 10 different formats in under 30 minutes. This post walks through exactly how to do that.

Whether you’re a solo creator or a marketing team, the repurposing bottleneck has always been time, not ideas. You already have the content. AI turns it into a distribution machine.

Why Content Repurposing Is the Highest-ROI Marketing Activity

One original piece of content — a blog post, podcast episode, or webinar — contains enough raw material for a week of distribution across every major platform. The math is simple: more formats means more SEO surface area, more distribution channels, and more chances to convert someone who wasn’t ready the first time.

The bottleneck has always been time and effort. Rewriting a blog post as a Twitter thread, then a LinkedIn post, then an email, then a short video script — that’s 2–3 hours of manual work for a skilled writer. AI removes that bottleneck. What took an afternoon now takes 30 minutes with the right prompt stack.

One blog post can become all of this:

  • Twitter/X thread
  • LinkedIn post
  • Email newsletter edition
  • Short video script (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)
  • Carousel post
  • Quora answer
  • Reddit comment
  • Newsletter blurb
  • Pull quotes for social
  • Meta description

The Repurposing Stack (What Tools You Need)

Keep it simple. You don’t need a dozen tools — you need four, two of which are optional:

  • ChatGPT or Claude — The core text transformation engine. Either works. The prompts in this post are model-agnostic.
  • A prompt library — Pre-built repurposing templates so you’re not writing prompts from scratch every time. (We’ll get to the five best ones below.)
  • Make or Zapier (optional) — If you want to automate the entire pipeline, not just run prompts manually.
  • Buffer or Hootsuite (optional) — To schedule the repurposed content once it’s generated.

5 AI Prompts for Content Repurposing (Copy These)

1. Blog Post → Twitter Thread

The Prompt

You are a social media copywriter. Take the blog post below and transform it into a 6-tweet Twitter thread. Tweet 1 = hook (bold claim or surprising fact). Tweets 2–5 = one key insight each, short and punchy, no fluff. Tweet 6 = CTA + link to the original post. Each tweet max 280 characters. No hashtags.

[PASTE BLOG POST]

Why it works: Forces a structure (hook → insights → CTA) that gets engagement, not just impressions.

2. Blog Post → LinkedIn Post

The Prompt

You are a LinkedIn content strategist. Rewrite the blog post below as a LinkedIn post for a marketing professional. Start with a bold single-sentence hook that stands alone on the first line. Then 3–5 short paragraphs, each 1–2 sentences. End with one clear takeaway and a question to drive comments. No hashtags. No "I hope this helps" closers. Max 300 words.

[PASTE BLOG POST]

Why it works: LinkedIn's algorithm rewards posts that generate comments — the closing question drives that directly.

3. Blog Post → Email Newsletter

The Prompt

You are an email copywriter. Convert the blog post below into a plain-text email newsletter edition. Subject line: [write one that creates curiosity, max 50 chars]. Preview text: [second hook, max 100 chars]. Body: conversational, first-person, 200–250 words. End with one CTA linking to the full post. No HTML, no headers. Write like a person, not a brand.

[PASTE BLOG POST]

Why it works: Keeps the email short enough to read in 60 seconds while driving click-throughs to the full content.

4. Blog Post → Short Video Script (60 seconds)

The Prompt

You are a video scriptwriter. Turn the blog post below into a 60-second video script. Format: Hook (first 5 seconds — bold claim or question), Problem (10 seconds), 3 quick solutions (30 seconds, ~10s each), CTA (10 seconds — "Link in bio" or "Comment X"). Write the script word-for-word. Include [pause] and [text overlay: …] cues for the creator.

[PASTE BLOG POST]

Why it works: The structured time blocks keep the script tight and make it easy for a non-video creator to record.

5. Long Post → 5 Pull Quotes for Social

The Prompt

You are a content marketer. Read the post below and extract the 5 most quotable lines — the ones that would make someone stop scrolling if they saw them on Instagram or LinkedIn. Format as a numbered list. Each quote should be under 160 characters, standalone (needs no context to land), and punchy. Do not paraphrase — pull exact lines from the post.

[PASTE BLOG POST]

Why it works: Pull quotes are the fastest content format to post — one per day for a week from a single article.

Automating the Repurposing Workflow

Running each prompt manually already saves hours. But if you want to go fully automated, here’s the Make scenario structure that works:

  1. 1. Trigger — New blog post published (RSS feed or CMS webhook).
  2. 2. Run each prompt — Five parallel OpenAI/Claude API calls, one per format.
  3. 3. Save outputs — Push all five outputs to an Airtable base for review.
  4. 4. Schedule — Approved content pushed to Buffer for scheduling.

Even semi-automated — running the prompts manually, copying outputs to a scheduler — cuts production time from 2–3 hours to under 30 minutes. The Make templates for the full pipeline are included in the Flux Automation Starter Kit.
